In terms of the creative process, the principal challenge of
this team was the very integration of the element of fire into the design of
the characters, in a way which would confer them a sense of visual unity, but
not so much so as to make them appear redundantly similar. This issue was
somewhat alike to the one I had experienced with the yellow team, but my
solution this time was to assign the characters respective species which would
be different, but which would also share common traits, in the same way that
various species of mammals bear differences and similarities to one another. I
accomplished this by using a similar tone and texture for their skin and by
replacing the anatomy of the backs of their skulls or spines with flames.
