Thus, for the portrayal of the second group, a high level of
technology was warranted. But on the other hand, this level of technological
development could not be brought too high, so as not to interfere with the
credibility of the fantasy setting of the game. In the same way, a level of
technology too high would also have interfered with the mechanics of the game
itself, giving the intelligence-based team an unfair advantage over the other
three.
Faced, therefore, with the problem of imagining for this
group a level of technological development which would be high, but not too
much so, I turned to a solution which other concept artists have employed in
the past when faced with the same issue: Steampunk.
